ignition: distributor and plug wires

Of course also the distributor was checked, I had an oil leak around the mount and it was time for revision. The flyweight adjustment for the timing advance was shot, this means if you set the advance at idle it runs alrady with full advance, therefor your engine will not rev up like it should because at 7000rpm you need about 35 degrees advance not 13 like at idle...

I bought a used distributor of a 25th 2 years ago which was now used to make one correct working out of two.

Setting the advance is kind of simple, turn the flywheel to the mark AA (anticipo accensione), then set the distributor the way the rotor match the red mark on the distributor. Now you should be able to measure 13 degrees timing advance, if it is more than 2 degrees wrong you might have a problem with your distributor...

Setting the advance is simple

Last year I made my own set of plug wires with MSD superconductor 8,5mm wire, I used an old original Cavis set which was installed when I bought my car. On wire was broken therefore an ideal base to use the boot and so on. I drilled all boots and rubber donuts with a 9mm driller to get the MSD wires through. I think this took about 3 working days.
